Kaleidoscope of Inquiry Bangkok

What started out as a hairbrained idea between two friends has turned into a global series of inquiry conferences titled the Kaleidoscope of Inquiry. Several years ago, Kath Murdoch and I were discussing a a pending trip to my home area: Vancouver, BC. We felt that there was a powerful opportunity to create the conditions for a rich conversation with other educators in some sort of a conference format. We thought, wouldn’t it be amazing if we could invite some of our favourite inquiry colleagues, plan an event with a diverse series of workshops, and provide attendees with the chance to hear from a variety of perspectives all on the same topic: inquiry?! It didn’t take much of this moonshot thinking before we realized we were out of our depth. We are not conference planners so we enlisted the help of our dear friend Shonal Agarwal from Chapters International and it didn’t take long for KOI Vancouver to be born!

Our second edition was recently hosted by Bangkok Patana School. Kath and I were joined by colleagues Anne van Dam and Sara K Ahmed to provide four voices for KOI Bangkok and it was a glowing success. Workshops focused on:

  • DESIGNING POWERFUL JOURNEYS OF INQUIRY WITH AND FOR LEARNERS

  • THE ART OF INQUIRY TEACHING: POWERING UP OUR PEDAGOGY

  • USING DOCUMENTATION TO MAKE THE INQUIRY PROCESS VISIBLE

  • INVITATION AND PROVOCATIONS - WHAT DOES IT MEAN (FOR YOU)?

  • CENTERING IDENTITY AND INQUIRY TO CO-CONSTRUCT SOCIAL COMPREHENSION IN OUR SCHOOLS

  • WHAT ELEVATES US TO PARTICIPATORY COMMUNITIES? LEVERAGING OUR LIVES AS INQUIRERS, THINKERS, COLLABORATORS, AND RESEARCHERS TO BUILD SPACES OF BELONGING.

  • INQUIRY MINDSET: EXPLORING A STUDENT-CENTERED ASSESSMENT EXPERIENCE IN INQUIRY

  • QUESTIONS IN INQUIRY
